WTF, Water??

I am having a day today so this post will be more rant-like than anything. I wouldn’t call it a full-on attitude, but water has gotten me in a tizzy. Let me give you some background. I recently wrote a blog about our good frenemy, the scale, so believe me when I say this is about more than the numbers. My scale tracks “Body Water”, and if it is believed to be true, mine is ridiculously low. I’m pretty consistent with getting about 100 ounces of water daily, yet my body water percentage barely budges.

Off to Google I go!! I spent a decent amount of time researching hydration, body water, alkaline vs. spring vs. mineral water, from Ted Talks to case studies to articles. Why is water so difficult? When did drinking the recommended 8 ounces not become enough? I digress...here are some things I found interesting. Two consistent points across my research were minerals and electrolyte balance. I’m currently using an alkaline water filter which increases pH levels but doesn’t do much to add minerals. Also, with working out 5x a week, it is very possible that I’m in need of more electrolytes.

Off to Amazon I go!! I found a few products to try out in hopes of getting a bit more balance with minerals and electrolytes so, hopefully, water doesn’t continue to just run right through me. The goal is to have more water get absorbed and pulled into muscles to increase my body water percentage. For me, this tends to result in fat loss based on the measurements from the scale. I believe it is pretty well known that we, as human beings, are made up of mostly water. The percentages ranges based on factors like gender and age, but a pretty standard average is having at least 50% body water. I’m going to test out Liquid I.V., DripDrop, and LMNT hydration packs for a week each and report back. I’m currently sitting at 35% body water...YIKES!
