I’ve managed to come up with an awesome framework of habits and routines for mental health and fitness over the last couple of months but I’ve noticed something pretty important was missing.
While the framework was built to provide flexibility and not be as restrictive as many “programs” around, I’ve realized there’s not a single hard constant. This could be a major bonus in the future but starting out, I need at least one kick-off point to get things rolling. So what was missing? Simple, a dedicated wake time.
In the past, I would wake up whenever and start the routine when I got up. But here’s the problem, if I sleep in until my first meeting of the day, I’ve left no room to do the full morning routine or I start it so late that I skip crucial steps.
So starting today, I’ll be joining the 6am Club…again. This used to be a constant for me but working in tech, some days run into the wee hours of the morning and that was happening way too much. Yes, I have the flexibility to sleep in to get some of that time back but I need to focus on the bigger picture…stop working so late. Everything can’t be an emergency! And most of all, I absolutely must prioritize my health. So giving it a solid 60 days of 6am to make sure I have plenty of time to get my day started right!
