It's Called Balance

One of my goals this year is to be more active on social media and consistent with blogging. What I discovered through this process so far is that I would use “falling off the wagon” as a reason to not post. Example, I binge ate pizza and a box of cookies, therefore; I’m not posting this week. In reality, that’s exactly when I should if the true intent is accountability and transparency.

When you are constantly fighting against the extreme opposite ends of the spectrum in regards to food, exercise, etc., it is hard to stay consistent. Your actions start being more reactive than proactive. To help combat this, try to plan as much as possible in areas where you have the most weaknesses. That way you make more conscious decisions insteads of impulsive ones.

A prime example from my week is Crumbl Cookie. My weakness is lemon flavored desserts. If you know Crumbl, you know they rotate their menu weekly and take a guess what they had on their menu. Not just a lemon cookie but a new flavor that I’ve never tried. Obviously, I had to had it. I was told (I didn’t go looking for trouble lol) about this cookie on Tuesday. On Wednesday-Saturday, I adjusted my calories, macros, and workouts to accommodate the extra calories from the cookie. On Saturday, I thoroughly enjoyed that cookie GUILT FREE!

In the past, I would have had such an extremely restrictive mindset and eventually lose to the cravings usually resulting in a whole box of cookies. And if you’re going to have a whole box of cookies, might as well have Chipotle too. And since calories are blown, might as well…You see, it’s a dangerous spiral. Moral of the story, focus on having a balanced diet vs an overly restrictive one. It’s had to beat your brain when it’s used to winning.
