8X80???
Integrity 8???
Honorable 8???
Me thinking of a name for a new challenge that I came up with for myself.
But wait, Brittany…don’t you stress yourself out when you get in ‘all-or-nothing’ restrictive type challenges? Yes. But am I extremely driven by goals and need some sort of framework to operate within? Also, Yes.
But here’s the thing…I am going into the next chapter of life with the intention of living to honor God through my words & actions. I’ll save this for a different post (maybe) but I finally feel like I’m coming out on the other side of negative self-talk, low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, etc. etc. Long story short - by dishonoring myself, I am dishonoring God. Much like manifestation, it is hard to act or pretend like you have something - let’s say a million dollars - when you can easily check your bank account and see that there’s only 100 dollars in it.
It is quite hard to - overnight - buy into the fact that I am not all of the things I have told myself & believed to be true for so long. Willpower and affirmations will only get you so far depending on how strong of a hold negativity has on you and the force was really strong with me.
So here’s what I’m going to do…if I can’t believe in myself and bulldoze through on willpower alone, in the meantime, I’m going to do it to honor God & gain strength from Him. I am going to be a woman of my word and have the integrity to follow through and honor God by completing these 8 tasks/habits daily for at least 80 days.
To safeguard my sanity, I have crafted the majority of the tasks to have some flexibility where possible so that it is a range versus a set hard number. Others are simply a yes or no on if they were completed.
Check out the task below:
Morning routine - J.S.S.R. - Journaling/Gratitude, Skincare, Supplements, Reading (minimum of 10 minutes, can be audiobook). I’m actually thinking about changing the ‘R’ to ‘L’ to include learning in general. Think of all the podcasts with great info.
Progress picture - because the scale will lie to you.
80-120oz of water - this is one of the tasks that has a range. I’ve stressed way too much over missing a “gallon” by 4-8oz in the past.
Hit protein goal then macros - here I have a primary focus on protein. There were some days, after all the protein, I just didn’t have room for the other macros but will still sometimes overeat to hit all my macros. Thankfully I know better now!
10 minutes of meditation - this honestly needs to be a post by itself but just trust me on this one. Being still, clearing the minds, focusing on the future and so on. It’s a must!
10 minutes dedicated to Journal Da Journey - Social media or blog post/planning/etc.
Sidenote - Tasks 5 & 6 are not limited to just 10 minutes. The intention is to “show up” for at least 10 minutes and see if I want to work/stay on those tasks longer. If not, I at least showed up for myself in someone that day to move the needle forward.
Hour of exercise/movement (min 3x/wk) &/or 10K Steps - for me this would be about 45-50 minutes strength or functional training plus stretching and this needs to happen at least three times a week but preferably four. Couple things here, I’m giving myself some grace and space to not have the 4th ‘heavy’ workout of the week because Mondays are such a struggle. Instead I can simply replace it with a 10K step day.
Sidenote - I did 10k steps a day for the entire month of January so I know the level of effort and time to do it, yay. More importantly, I had the greatest results of fat & weight loss EVER when focused on steps & nutrition. So, TO ME, with the results I saw and until something changes, I am a very strong believer in just consistent movement, not necessarily overdoing it in the gym. Plus, it’s a way easier way to burn calories. Hooooowever, strength training still has its place for building muscle.
Night Routine - R.S.S.R. - Reset, Skincare, Supplements, Review. Reset, for me, is making sure everything I need to optimize my tomorrow is prepared tonight. Dishes are done so my favorite cup for tea is out and ready. Supplements like creatine & vitamins are already sorted into containers so I can just take them without fumbling through bottles first thing in the morning. Review is a moment to reflect and take accountability for my day and if I’ve hit completed my tasks. It also gives me a moment to plan on any known tasks for the next day.
Lastly, I made a vision board to have imagery but I’ll tell you all about it in my next post!
