A Dedication to Coach D

Writer's picture: BeeBee

I know I’ve shouted out my fitness coach before in a blog, but this man deserves his own post. When I say I was going through it last week…wheeeeew…THROUGH IT! And even that’s an understatement. It was a long week of endless deadlines at work, planning for upcoming travel, tough training sessions, and calorie deficits galore. By the end of the week with no progress showing up on the scale, it just didn’t feel like all the work I was doing with fitness was worth the sacrifice. Maybe I would be better off using that energy to smooth out work projects or spending time with friends I’ve been missing.

Coach D to the rescue

As usual, Coach checked in with me to see how the training sessions went and to see how I was feeling. I’m really good at giving a “brush off” answer just to let the moment pass, but for whatever reason, I was super honest and let him know how discouraged I was feeling. I know now that is a huge testament to the level of trust & respect I have for him. With zero hesitation, this man Facetimed me and we talked for over an hour that Saturday morning.

More than he know

I’ve thanked this man many times, but I still don’t think he knows how much that talk meant to me. That was beyond the realm of his job duties, yet he still wanted to make sure I was good. He took the time, as long as was needed, to make sure I had my head screwed back on straight and I was mentally checked in. As I’ve said before, I started this blog to help keep myself in check and hopefully, someday in the future, help others who have similar struggles and need support. To be there for somebody in their time of need. To be that reassurance and motivation. The same way Coach D has been there for me.

Fulfilling purpose

Not only am I thankful from a fitness perspective but also a purpose perspective. If I could help change and course correct even one person the same way Coach D has helped me, I would be so fulfilled. So again I say, THANK YOU, COACH D! You’ve helped me become physically stronger but more importantly, mentally stronger. You encourage me daily to do & be my best and I only hope that I can pay it forward to someone else in need.

P.S - I be giving this man high hell! That deserves a post of its own for him dealing with my level of crazy but I’ll just add another “THANK YOU” here. I appreciate you forever and ever. Alright, that's enough before he starts getting too gassed up!
